Are you preparing to buy a home in the near future? Here are a few simple steps to help you through this oftentimes overwhelming process.

1 – Check your credit score. You can use a site like (which uses TransUnion and Equifax) and (which uses Experian). These sites provide you with a free credit  report and monitoring. You
can also find information on these sites on how to improve your credit.

2 – Next, you will want to work with a lender to determine what your budget is for buying a home. You will need to get pre-approval before you start your home search.

3 – Make a list of your priorities for a home. Determine what you are looking for in your new home. What are the items you can’t live without and what are the items you would like to have but are willing to do without?

4 – Now that you know what you want in a home, you need to select a real estate agent to help you find that home.

5 – Next up is to check out some homes. It is time to start viewing homes to search for your new place.

6 – During the entire home buying process, it is important that you avoid any financial changes until after you have closed on your new home.
